Inicios (Beginnings) is our latest collection of pure virgin wool area rugs, designed in collaboration with the renowned Argentine textile designer Martín Churba. Inicios is available in three different design variations, all in the unmistakable signature style of the creator and produced with the same soft, fluffy texture of all of El Espartano’s natural fiber rugs. The collection was inspired by a series of photographs taken by Churba while on a trip to Europe during his youth. He played with the photographs, revealing the negatives and mirroring the images until arriving at the designs, which were then projected onto the different rugs. Designs 01 and 02 feature a cut pile texture, while Design 03 combines cut pile and bouclé textures.

The three-dimensional effects and neutral tones with color accents transform Martín Churba’s photographic souvenirs into unique designs that join the line of rugs developed by our Sustainable Design Laboratory.

Materials & care

Type of rug: Alexa, digital hand-tufted
Yarn: 100% pure wool

Vacuum regularly without a brush head, blot spills immediately with a clean dry cloth, and rotate the rug periodically for even wear. Professional cleaning is recommended. Wool is naturally stain-resistant and flame-retardant.

Made to order · 45 days

Each rug is made to order in our Buenos Aires atelier, where design and production coexist within a single process. Current production time is approximately 45 days, plus shipping. Custom sizes and colors are available on request.
