After earning a degree in architecture from the Universidad de Buenos Aires in 1967, he began working at Stilka design company, where he developed products using technologies that were not conventional at the time. One project at a time, he gradually became a well-known designer, particularly of furniture. His outstanding projects include chairs designed for the National Library and furniture for public schools in Buenos Aires. Over the years, his career became international in scope; he is a major point of reference in Argentine design. Blanco believes that design must bring together three fundamental elements: functionality, technology, and beauty.
“The Rue Lepic rug emerged from the longing for a return to cobblestone streets as pleasant places to sit. That idea came out of a trip to Paris; walking through Montmartre, I came upon Rue Lepic, the street where Amélie was filmed and that Yves Montand sang to.” — Ricardo Blanco.
