Arco originated with an initial rug created by Cristián Mohaded for Territorio Híbrido, the exhibition presented at the Museo Nacional de Arte Decorativo in Buenos Aires from November 2021 to March 2022. Curated by Wustavo Quiroga, the exhibition occupied the Palacio Errázuriz and brought together more than twenty pieces, including furniture, objects, textiles and installations developed especially for the occasion.

Within this body of work, the rug introduced a composition inspired by Art Deco architecture, built from lines, elementary geometric forms and contrasting colors. The piece entered into dialogue with the museum’s heritage and with Mohaded’s exploration of a contemporary Argentine designlanguage bringing together industry, craftsmanship and a sense of place.

From this initial design, El Espartano and Mohaded developed Arco 01, 02 and 03. In 2026, the complete collection was presented at El Espartano’s showroom in Distrito Arenales, in Buenos Aires. The three rugs translate the original language into different shapes and proportions, combining pure wool with cut and bouclé pile.
